RallySport Magazine's Martin Holmes will this week miss his first home WRC event since 1962.
The venerable Holmes has attended every RAC Rally / Wales Rally GB in that time, but a scheduled stay in hospital for treatment for an ongoing back problem will bring that streak to an end.
It will also mean that he misses the launch of his new book, The Great British Rally', a history of Rally GB.
Holmes and prolific author, Graham Robson, have produced the book, which features 224 pages and over 300 images from the event's history.
RallySport Magazine expect to have copies of the new book available for sale prior to Christmas.
