The Rally of Jodhpur, third round of the 2019 Indian national rally championship, was stopped after a tragic incident early on Saturday morning.
The championship promoters said a motorcycle forced its way past barriers on to the stage after the stage had been secured, and the rider ignored the marshals who told him not to go out on to the stage.
This happened just before Gaurav Gill’s Mahindra XUV300 was due.
Gill had no way of knowing that there was anything untoward on the course and collided with the motorcycle carrying a man, woman, and child.
All three are reported to have died.
