Veteran German, Armin Kremer, will return to the WRC at November’s final round in Australia.

The 49-year-old multiple German, European and Asia-Pacific champion will drive a Skoda Fabia R5 in WRC 2 at Kennards Hire Rally Australia (15 - 18 November).

Kremer had been working on a deal to drive a Toyota Yaris World Rally Car at August’s ADAC Rallye Deutschland. When that failed to come to fruition, he targeted the final round of the season and will line-up in a Fabia prepared by Austrian team BRR.

“When I was the gravel spy for Marijan Griebel and drove the Rallye Deutschland stages, I knew I had to go for a World Championship run this season,” said Kremer.

Rally Australia has been a regular in the WRC since 1989.

“But it had to be something special as I already know the rallies in Great Britain and Spain, so I decided to go to the last round of the WRC because I have only fond memories of Australia from my time in the FIA Asia-Pacific Championship.”

Rally Australia will be new to Kremer but he has good recollections of competing in the country. In 2003 he won the Asia-Pacific category at the Rally of Canberra.

“I’m looking forward to the stages along the Gold Coast around Coffs Harbour and such famous tests as Wedding Bells' which are completely new to me.

“But, of course, I don’t travel halfway around the world just to drive. On the contrary, in Australia I want to fight for victory in WRC 2,” he added.

Kremer was a WRC 2 regular in 2015 and 2016 with the BRR squad but his last WRC appearance was at his home event in 2017, when he finished ninth in a Ford Fiesta World Rally Car.
