No-one from the championship was prepared to go on record as confirming the deal, which will be a first for the ARC, but the announcement is imminent.
Leading ARC crews are believed to be divided on whether the move is a good thing for the championship, with many already having deals with other tyre manufacturers. However, the control tyre is certain to throw a new challenge at all crews.
Kuhmo rally tyres have been used extensively in the British Rally Championship, but have also appeared in many other major rally championships around the world, including the WRC.
VICTORIA BACK IN THE ARC
It is believed the Cerberus Car Club will run Victoria’s round of the Australian Rally Championship next year, with the state returning to the championship after a two year hiatus.
The rally is expected to be run in and around the Powelltown / Nojee area, east of Melbourne.
