One of Australia's leading rally teams has made the decision to withdraw their cars from all competitions until further notice.
Melbourne-based Activ RallySport were due to enter cars in this weekend's Mitta Mountain Rally, with defending Victorian Rally Champion, Arron Windus, leading their charge.
However, they made the call to suspend competition this morning.
"After the cancellation of the Netier Rally of Canberra due to the Covid-19 virus we have decided as a team to withdraw all cars from competition until further notice. This includes all customer programs in both state and national rallying as well as our own cars."
Team driver, Darren Windus, applauded the decision.
"I back you 100%, as whilst highly unlikely that infection will take place, the risk to not only ourselves, but others we come into contact with in our day to day activities," Windus said.
"It's extremely regretful to event organisers, but unfortunately this is something that can have a very big impact on people's livelihood if affected.
"It took huge balls to make this call team so well done."
