Hyundai head into Rally German buoyed by the speed of the i20 WRC in Finland. There was a positive general reaction to the team's encouraging performance of the cars in Finland. Leading into Germany, Thierry Neuville's pre-event test was carried out in heavy rain, but each driver had one day in the vineyards, and Neuville had an extra half day in Baumholder. The team will debut new cars (chassis 20 for Neuville, 21 for Mikkelsen and 22 for Sordo), while gravel note crews will be Bruno Thiry for Neuville, Kollevold for Mikkelsen and Xavier Pons for Sordo. And what of the competition numbers selected by the drivers this year? Neuville has liked #11 since back in 2013, his first big year in WRC, and it is “number 1 twice over!”. Both Mikkelsen and his co-driver Anders Jæger-Amland like #89 as they were both born in 1989, Sordo likes #6 as it brings him success, and Loeb likes #19 for various reasons. First of all, the number 19 is the birth date of his daughter Valentine, #19 represents his 1 JWRC title and his 9 WRC titles, and the 2019 season is the 19th anniversary of his first start as an official driver in WRC! Meanwhile, Dani Sordo is to compete in an R5 car on the forthcoming Argentine championship rally at Neuquen.
