Former Australian Rally Champion, Ed Ordynski, has been appointed into a business development role with Motorsports Training Australia – a division of the Wodonga TAFE College.

Motorsports Training Australia  will set up a workshop and administrative offices next February and the lease may be extended after three years.

Ordynski will spend a week each month in Wodonga, on the Victoria / NSW border

“I won’t be taking any classes as such,” Ordynski said. “I’ll be like an ambassador for the training centre and a mentor for the students.

“I’ve been fortunate to work with a number of the best mechanics and engineers in the world.

“So okay, I’m not a mechanic or engineer myself, but when you’ve worked in that environment it’s a great asset.”

Ordynski, will officially start his job on January 8.

The Motorsport division of Wodonga TAFE will spend around $295,000 on the facility, with $86,500 being spent on equipment such as hoists.

Thrity-seven students graduated at the TAFE college last week, with Ordynski the guest speaker at the ceremony.

He said he had been aware of the motor school’s reputation through being part of a steering committee in 2002.
