NZ AP4 car changes hands, and Fiesta R5 on the way

One of the 2016 Hyundai Young Driver Shootout winners, Job Quantock, has upgraded from his current Mitsubishi Lancer to an AP4 car.

Quantock RallySport has purchased the ex-Glenn Inkster Skoda Fabia AP4+.Quantock RallySport has purchased the Skoda Fabia AP4+ car that was previously driven by fellow New Zealander Glenn Inkster.

While the Skoda has shown plenty of speed and potential over the past 18 months, reliability problems have hampered the car.

Quantock drove Hyundai New Zealand’s i20 AP4+ in the NZRC round at Canberbury, finishing in eighth place.

He also took 16th place in the Otago Rally in his Lancer Evo 7, and eighth place at the Rally of Whangarei.

It is expected that both Job, and his father David, will drive the car during the remainder of the 2017 season.

The popularity of rallying in New Zealand continues to grow, with strong rumours of a Ford Fiesta R5 set to contest events later in the season, including the season-ending Rally New Zealand - possibly with an international driver behind the wheel.
