Rallycross provided plenty of close, exciting racing at the Raleigh track near Coffs Harbour last weekend.

With heat wins each, Justin Dowel (Hyundai i20 Proto) and Will Orders (Techsport Evo 8 RX) battled throughout the day, posting very quick times, with typical  exciting rallycross racing on the variation of track surfaces.

The final saw Dowel and Orders lined up on the front row of the grid, with young Sean Bolger (VW Polo S2000) and former Irish RX champion Michael Coyne (Mazda Rallye) on the second row.

The long, fast, fifth gear blast down to the first corner proved decisive, with Orders muscling his way through in the Evo, then holding his line into the first corner.

The two drivers were never far apart, and the cars were evenly matched. Orders drove on to a very close victory in the five lap final, just a metre or so ahead of Dowel’s Hyundai Proto.
