RallySport Magazine’s Luke Whitten is joined by guests Brendan Reeves and Mitch Newton to discuss what’s happened over the holiday break.

There’s champions looking to return to the Australian Rally Championship and new stages for the opening round in Canberra, which falls favourably on the panel members.

Drivers have been given the shot of a lifetime in the World Rally Championship, where Rally1 cars have changed year-on-year.

Reeves understands this might benefit the drivers on the drivability side.

Brendan Reeves also teases his 2025 rallying plans.

“This year the cars have actually changed quite a bit and it’s getting glossed over,” Reeves commented. “The cars have got a smaller restrictor, and with the hybrid system out, will take 130 kilograms out of the car behind the B-pillar.

“The drivers always talked about that it (the Hybrid system’s weight) made the chassis really awkward to drive and you’d see a lot of rake on the cars trying to get them to work with the aero.”

Thoughts are also shared on the two full-time WRC newcomers Sami Pajari and Josh McErlean.

The conversation then culminates in our predictions of who will take the top spot.
