To celebrate Rally Australia, the 10th round of the 2011 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Park Beach Plaza shopping centre in Coffs Harbour is hosting a spectacular sand exhibition. Thirty five tonnes of sand will be combined with the talents of four international sand sculptors to create a truly inspiring scene depicting the inaugural Coffs Coast event carved from sand.
International sand sculptors Kevin Crawford, Jino van Bruinessen, Peter Redmond and Christina Mija from Sandstorm Events will arrive at Park Beach Plaza Shopping Centre in Coffs Harbour on 30 August to start the massive task of loading in and “carving” or “sculpting” the sand. The creative process involves days of form work followed by detailed design work as the sculptors artfully bring the Coffs Coast rally scene to life.
The exhibition will be on display at Park Beach Plaza from the start of the build on 31 August right through until the end of the October school holidays on 10 October 2011.
