24 cars will line up for this weekend’s Round 1 of the AAM Malaysian Rally Championship at Rally of Perlis (ROP) in Arau, Perlis.

Headed by last year’s 2WD MRC winner and former WRC (Production car) Champion, Karamjit Singh, the list of entrants are mixed with experienced and young drivers.

The former WRC champion will start as the odds-on favourite to win this year in his Proton Gen2 4WD Turbo. Karamjit’s toughest competition in the two-day event is expected to come from any number of rivals, led by last year ROP champion’s brother, Shazmie Ilias, as the MRC champion, Shazly Ilias, will act as co-driver this time in their trusted AKBM KBS's Mitsubishi Evolution 6.

After a ceremonial start by His Royal Highness, Crown Prince of Perlis, the rally hits the gravel with three stages for the day.

On Sunday, the action continues with a further six repeated stages, the longest being the 23.01km Kilang Gula stage.
