Mount Crawford Forest will again be the venue for newcomers to rallying this September, when the third annual RallySafe Introductory Rally takes to the stages of Lightforce Rally SA.
The RallySafe Introductory Rally provides newcomers to the sport a unique opportunity to compete on some of the same stages as the Kumho Tyre Australian Rally Championship® and the MRF South Australian Rally Championship competitors.
People with an interest in rallying can ‘come and try’ in a controlled environment away from public roads.
Run on Saturday 16th  September during the second day of the 2017 Lightforce Rally SA, competitors will get four hours of competition, and as part of the RallySafe partnership get free access to the same advanced safety equipment as all other competitors.
New competitors can try rallying for minimum cost, with entry open to road cars without roll cages, and competitors timed to the minute in a relatively relaxed introduction to the sport. The main entry criterion is that the driver has not competed in a stage rally before, though experienced co-drivers are encouraged to participate to support the newcomers.
2017 marks the third year of the Introductory Rally, continuing under the naming rights sponsorship of Australian motorsport safety company RallySafe.
Designed in Australia, RallySafe is an innovative system that provides event organisers with real time statistics on the position of competing cars, allowing rapid response to accidents. This data is transmitted to following cars, and impacts are measured, providing a more coordinated impact response.
RallySafe Managing Director Stephen Sims is enthusiastic about the partnership.

“RallySafe is all about making the sport of rallying safer with our innovative technology. We are pleased to support Lightforce Rally SA Introductory competitors trying the sport out as newcomers, by providing our proven tracking units free of charge. At RallySafe everyone’s safety matters, just as it does to all at Lightforce Rally SA,” Stephen said.
Lightforce Rally SA Clerk of Course Ivar Stanelis was upbeat about the opportunity posed by the 2017 event.

“We had a great turnout for the first RallySafe Introductory Rally, and we’re excited that RallySafe have chosen to support this concept again. We look forward to welcoming a new range of competitors to the RallySafe Introductory Rally this September. It’s exciting for all involved,” he said.
