RallySport Promotions’ annual tarmac touring road event, the Forest Classic Rally, has a attracted a record field of 61 cars for this year’s event.

To be run on April 28 and 29, the entry list includes ten priceless Renault Alpines similar to the cars that successfully competed in the World Rally Championship in the 1970s.

Along with the distinctive French Blue-colored Renaults, there will be such diverse marques as BMW, Maserati, Mustang, Mini, Porsche, Alfa Romeo and many more competing. Crews have come from as far away as Queensland to compete in the event and will tour the north east region of Victoria.

Based in Wangaratta, the Forest Classic Rally provides a showcase of cars and crews who regard the 700 kilometre event as being one of the best on the classic car calendar. While the event is an opportunity for owners of classic cars to air their pride and joy, there is a serious side to the weekend as navigators have their heads down as they map their way over some real driver’s roads.

Event director, Jeff Whitten, says he is rapt that this year’s field is the best yet.

“Along with the many crews who return to the Forest Classic Rally year after year, we have also attracted a large number of first time entries, and we’re sure that they’ll enjoy not only the great roads on offer, but the fantastic hospitality and camaraderie that the event enjoys,” Whitten said.
