Reeves will be one of 17 competitors, all winners of their regional PSD competitions, who will be vying for up to six places in the prestigious Rally Academy in 2011.
Reeves, a motorsport competitor since the age of 7, has had a stellar year in both tarmac and gravel events and was the only representative from the Asia Pacific region to be nominated for the shootout by the APRC Executive.
Contesting this year’s Pacific Cup, a three-event series run in conjunction with the APRC, Reeves finished with a second place at International Rally Whangarei and followed it up with an outstanding outright win at the International Rally New Caledonia.
“This is the third year that we have sent someone from the Asia-Pacific Region to the PSD Shootout and we are very proud and delighted to be sending Brendan to represent our region,” Steven Kennedy, President, APRC Executive, said.
The four-day PSD Shootout includes an intensive training seminar and interviews with the PSD judges, as well as driving tests on both tarmac and gravel. With the chance to be one of up to six competitors to be chosen for a place at the Rally Academy next year, and the opportunity to contest selected World Rally Championship events in an Academy-supported two wheel drive car in 2011, competition will be fierce.
“This is an amazing opportunity for me to compete against some of the best young rally drivers in the world,” Reeves said. “I am honoured to have been nominated as the Asia Pacific representative and I’ll be giving my all at the Shootout at Rally Spain.”
