There are many categories to choose from when entering the AGL Rally SA - Rally of the Heartland
One of these is the brand-new Regularity category. If orienteering is "Cunning Running", then Regularity is "Smart Staging"
Want to compete in a gravel rally with recognised pedigree, but don't want to go for outright speed? Then this category could be for you
Regularity is about tactical driving. The objective is to let you compete with limited speed restrictions that suit a wide range of driving ability and skill levels, making it competition motor sport rather than actual racing.
Combining speed with strategy, the Regularity category is a timed, competitive category that runs across both days of the rally.
Cars are released at two-minute intervals on closed-road stages and must aim for an elapsed time relating to an average speed, usually around 80-90kmh, on competitive technical roads.
Penalty time is accrued for missing the target time, and penalties also apply for exceeding the 120kmh closed-road speed limit. Participants will take part in all daylight stages of the rally, and vie for their own trophies
The Supplementary Regulations have been approved by the CAMS, and are now available HERE.
