Reid returns in Glastonbury showdown
- 30th June 2016, 3:51am
Round 3 of the MRF Tyres Queensland Novice Series kicks off on July 16, reprising some of the state’s favourite roads.
The CMP Consulting Glastonbury Multi-Club Rally will see the state’s novices versus the best in the forests of Glastonbury and Mary’s Creek, just west of Gympie.
Queensland rally hero, Stewart Reid, has been confirmed as a starter in his freshly rebuilt Datsun 1600, but he won’t have it all his own way in the 62km of competitive stages.
Pushing him all the way will be Dave Feron in his Group 4 Datsun 160J. Richard Anderson has entered his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8, and Queensland’s Lady of Rallying, Kim Acworth, has handed the keys to “Libby”, the striking Subaru Liberty, to Gerard McConkey.
The MRF Tyres Queensland Novice Series has leaders Douglas Morgan and Richard Taylor locked in the lead, but competitive newcomers, Alan Arney and Wayne Borman, will keep them honest.
The CMP Consulting Glastonbury Multi-Club Rally starts from the Glastonbury Recreation Grounds at 9:30am and first car is due home at around 3:00pm. There will be catering and spectating available.
