With the first round of the BOSCH Australian Rally Championship run and won, the SACHS Rally Team are now in final preparations for round two, the “Quit Forest Rally” in Nannup Western Australia. This rally will see the team clock up over 15,000km in overall travel in just five weeks.

A busy start to the 2012 rally season sees the Brisbane based SACHS Rally team do a return trip to Melbourne, and then three weeks later a return trip across the Nullarbor Plain to Busselton, Western Australia, for round 2 of the ARC.

“When you combine the team transporter, rally car and recce vehicle, it all adds up to almost 15,500km of driving in just over five weeks - now that’s commitment,” stated driver Steve Shepheard.

“In fact, it requires a huge amount of commitment by all of our team members and service crew, not to mention all of the other ARC teams as well.”

Currently placed second outright in the ARC, driver Steven Shepheard and his navigator, John McCarthy, will be seeded first on the road. This is where the roads are fast flowing, complete with a uniquely ball bearing surface, that is not considered favourable for car one on the road.

“The W.A. roads are probably my favourite in the ARC series - super quick with lots of natural flow through the forest and hills, so while it’s a long drive from home, it is well worth it when we drop that clutch and attack the first stage.”

The SACHS ‘Unrestricted Evo X’ has undergone a full service after the ECB Rally in Victoria. This included a full transmission check by ALBINS and driveline and spanner check by GSA Wholesale Suspension, giving the Evo X every opportunity to perform faultlessly.
