Australia’s toughest motorsport adventure, the Australasian Safari, will bring over one hundred competitors and their off-road racing machines to the Pilbara in September 2014.
The collaboration between Safari and the Pilbara Regional Council will see the event reaching Western Australia’s North West region for the first time in seven years.
Pilbara Regional Council CEO Tony Friday is looking forward to having the Australasian Safari in the North-West.
“I am thrilled to be hosting one of Australia’s premier motorsports events in the region. An event as rugged and extreme as the Australasian Safari bolsters the international reputation of the Pilbara as a true adventure sports destination,” said Tony.
Safari Event Director Justin Hunt is excited the event is finally returning to such a breathtaking part of Western Australia.
“It’s a pleasure to be partnering with the Pilbara Regional Council, who share our enthusiasm regarding promoting WA to the world,” said Justin.
“We’re glad to be back in such a unique part of Australia, it has been seven years too long.
“Competitors can expect the Pilbara addition of this year’s route will take them through some amazing almost untouched wilderness areas with rugged and challenging terrain.”
The 2014 route, which will be visiting four out of the five Western Australian tourism regions, will showcase the diversity of the WA landscapes to an international audience through the TV broadcast of the event.
Other host regions for the 2014 Australasian Safari include Perth, Coral Coast and Golden Outback.
The Australasian Safari has a growing reputation as one of the most toughest and challenging motorsport events in the world.
The event starts with a family friendly Safari Show in Perth on the 19th of September. Competitors then embark on seven days of endurance racing throughout the outback of Western Australia, crossing the finish line on the 27th of September.
