If you like rallying the way it used to be, it will pay you to get your expression of interest in soon for the Southern Mountains Rally. Entries will be limited to 70 crews with just five spots reserved for special interest vehicles.

The Southern Mountains Rally has again secured The Great Southern Inn as the major sponsor, so the start and finish will be again centred around the popular pub.

Following on from the hugely successful inaugural event held in 2008, this year’s event will offer 20 stages including 320km competitive. The rally will again start and finish in the popular fishing town of Eden on the NSW south coast and travel to Bombala and Cathcart during the two days of competition.

Competitors and spectators alike can look forward to some exciting action and close competition throughout 12 different forests in the region which will be used, including stages in Victoria for the first time.

As a traditional ‘moving’ rally along the same lines as the Alpine, it will again cater for all Australian 2WD Historic, PRC and Classic cars. A large field is anticipated, including crews from most states, which should set the scene for a state of origin-type battle. Modern cars will also be catered for with a separate event, details of which are to be announced shortly.

The event will be held on July 31 and August 1, 2010.
