Hyundai Motorsport has had the chance to test their i20 World Rally Car on the Rally Serras de Fafe e Felgueiras in Portugal. The team sent reigning World Rally Champion Ott Tanak alongside Dani Sordo to finetune their setups in preparation for the first gravel round of the WRC season. Sordo tested the existing aerodynamics while Tanak tested a car with updated parts. The car Tanak drove featured a modified rear wing, similar to that of the Yaris, and also altered designs at the front of the car. While not commenting on the aero itself, Tanak was happy to get some more seat time in the car on gravel. “We used this weekend to get more seat-time and competitive mileage with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC ahead of the upcoming gravel rallies," Tanak commented.

Tanak is trying to come to grips with the Hyundai as quickly as possible.

The rally covered some of the famous Rally Portugal roads including the famous Fafe stage and its iconic jump. "It’s always nice to drive at such a popular event and on iconic stages familiar to us from Rally de Portugal," he added. "It was a productive weekend as we worked closely with the engineers and Dani to find some good settings for our car on gravel. "We had a test in the south of Spain earlier this week to prepare for Mexico but of course it’s always helpful to have more time in the car, especially in a competitive mode as we had here in Fafe.”
