Targa Australia has introduced their latest technical regulations that will be in place for three years, including the 25th Anniversary Targa Tasmania in 2016, to bring some much needed stability to Targa.

There are many exciting innovations coming as Targa enters the next phase of its illustrious life including;

*Two brand new competitions for classic and modern cars who do not have roll cages:  Thoroughbred and Sports Trophy will provide the closest thing to a full Targa competition by providing a base time event where the lowest penalty time wins with the only restriction being a 130kph speed limit.  Great for classic cars in particular and those with performance road cars, these competitions are sure to bring far more car clubs and their members to Targa.

* A return to two Showroom Competitions: It is time to return to the original Showroom competition structure to ensure competitors in these cars get the same thrills and excitement from achieving success as those in other competitions.  It will potentially see more than 20 cars in both the 2WD and 4WD competitions doing battle and some hard-earned wins await our Showroom competitors.

* Fuel Requirements: No changes here!!  We are sure this will make many competitors smile.

* Tyres: Standard six tyre rule across all events for consistency and with the view to cutting some costs at Targa Tasmania.  This change has been widely called for so we have listened.

* Weight for all Modern Competitions: A return of minimum weight back to manufacturers specifications to discourage large and very costly diets to remain competitive.
