Members of the Tasmanian rallying community are already talking about ways in which they can assist the Scamander community after the area was ravaged by fierce bushfires this week.

The out-of-control fires caused horrendous damage to the east coast Tasmanian area earlier this week, with many houses being burnt to the ground, and thousands of acres of forest areas burnt.

The region has long been used by Tasmanian rallying for the popular Scamander Screamer rally, and chat on the RallySport Magazine forum has hinted that a charity rally could be held in the region next year.

One idea put forward is for the 500 Car Club to run a charity rally, with funds being given to the local council to help in the rebuilding of the area.

There has also been talk of getting one of the television networks on board to assist with advertising the event, should it happen.

The 500 Car Club have already pledged to hold some type of fundraiser, with the proceeds going to the victims of the fires.

Although the ideas are just talk at the present time, it seems likely that help will be given to the Scamander region in some form, courtesy of the Tasmanian rallying community.
