One of the favourites for this weekend’s Lightforce Rally SA has been forced to withdraw his entry from round four of the Australian Rally Championship. Number one seeds in the ARC field, Eli Evans and Glen Weston, will be absent from the event after Eli’s mother, Iris, passed away last week. With the funeral being held this Thursday, contesting the event was never really an option for Evans and his Mini Cooper AP4. This means that Harry Bates and his brand new Toyota Yaris AP4 will be the first car in the ARC field, followed by Nathan Quinn’s Lancer Evo 9, and Molly Taylor’s factory Subaru WRX STI. After rain during the week, the rally weekend is predicted to be fine and mostly sunny, with temperatures between 13 and 17 degrees. A highlight of the event will be the night stages on Saturday evening. A preview of Lightforce Rally SA will be available on www.rallysportmag.com.au later in the week.
