Qualifying for the power stage did not go to plan for the Hilary's Hotel Rally Team, with crew Will Orders and Adam Wright succumbing to sever underbody damage to the Nissan Silva s13 in the first run through the qualifying stage.

"We wanted those five power stage points desperately, and pushed a bit hard on a jump and destroyed all of the underbody protection, it's not often you bend a 6mm alloy sump guard like a banana," Will said.

The team has acquired the use of the Total Traction Services workshop in Belconnen and is currently repairing the car ready for tomorrow's heat one.

Team principal Hilary Evans was adamant that the team would have the car ready.

"We have the best group of guys working with us to get the car going, we all love an underdog and this determination to continue will spur the boys on tomorrow out in the forrest. I know they won't give up," Evans said.

Owner of Freak Motor Sport Fabrications, Peter van Waart, is also on hand to assess and fix the damage. "It's only metal and nothing we can't fix, even if it takes us all night," he said.

The team would like to extend their thanks to the Barrett brothers, Micheal and Thomas of Total Traction Services in Belconnen, for the use of their equipment and factory on such late notice.
