The Historic Rally Association has put out an urgent message to classic and historic rally competitors as the entry deadline looms large for the Southern Cross Gold Anniversary Rally.
With less than two weeks to go to close of entries, the entry level is around 30 cars. Because of the expense of organising such a long and complex event, event director, Bob Watson, says the level of entries is not sufficient to meet expenses, resulting in the organising club facing a significant financial loss.
A deadline of Sunday, October 2 has been set for those considering or committed to entering the event, with notification to the Entries Secretary, Kaye Kilsby, kjkilsby@bigpond.com, or mobile 0418 391465.
“A special organising committee meeting will be held on Monday evening October 3 to review entries and determine the future of the event,” Bob Watson said.
“There are a number of options open to the organisers to enable the event to be run, but this information about entries is vital.
“If you know of anyone who may be interested in the event, please contact them urgently. We desperately want the event to run, there has been a huge amount of work put into the organisation and it is a first class event, but the HRA cannot be expected to bear a large loss.
“For those who have already entered, thank you for your support. We will keep you informed of developments on an urgent basis,” Watson added.
