It is reported that Welsh born Bill Gwynne has died after a short illness.
His life in motorsport started on two wheels in scramble racing, becoming a regional champion. He turned to four wheels, driving in night time road rallying, becoming Motoring News champion in 1977 and 1978, and then in daylight special stage rallying.
In the early ‘80s he founded BGMsport as a family business specialising in rally, race and performance car servicing and preparation, and in 1982 launched the Bill Gwynne Rallyschool International, based at Turweston airfield.
The school was claimed to the world’s first rally driving tuition centre.
