The 2015 Onslow Contracting West Australian Rally Championship (WARC) will roar to life this Friday (March 27), starting with the biggest event of the Championship, the Quit Forest Rally.

The WARC field of 45 crews will see the State’s best rally competitors vying to win the most challenging round of the year.

Led by 2014 West Australian Rally Champions Doug Tostevin/Tamara Adams (pictured) and the Quit Forest Rally WARC winners from the past two years, Dylan King/Lee Tierney, the battle will be fierce in the fight to take first bragging rights for 2015.

"The Quit Forest Rally is our favourite event of the series because it has a high profile, lots of spectators and great roads. It's also great to measure yourself against the best drivers from around the country," Tostevin said.

Starting on the shores of Busselton and winding through the forests of Nannup, the Quit Forest Rally will see the WARC competitors run alongside the ECB Australian Rally Championship crews and a number of supporting categories.

“The Quit Forest Rally is one of the most hotly contested of the year with the top WA crews battling each other for points in round one of the Championship but also out to prove themselves against the best drivers in the country,” Quit Forest Rally Clerk of Course Ross Tapper said.

“While much of the attention will ultimately be on the event winners, there are ‘mini’ competitions going on throughout the field as crews battle for Category and Class points,” he continued.

Mark Davies and John O’Dowd, who have placed on the podium in recent years, as well as Robert Webber, Scott McKenzie, Stephen Oxley, Gary Whittle, Craig Puzey and local driver Matthew Snaddon will also be ones to watch out for at the top of the time sheets.

Leading the charge in the WARC 2WD class will be Razvan Vlad, Mark Travers, Geoffrey Leatt-Hayter, Julian Wright and the 2014 2WD Challenge series winner Andy van Kann.

The event will also be the opening round of the WA Clubman Cup which is boasting one of its most impressive entry lists in recent years.

2014 WA Clubman Cup Champions Carl and Tracey Rattenbury will lead the field which will also include 2014 Quit Forest Rally Champions Jason and Paul Lowther.

The 2015 Quit Forest Rally will be the 16th running of the event in the Busselton region. The event will be the opening round of the ECB Australian Rally Championship, as well as the opening rounds of the West Australian Rally Championship and the West Australian Clubman Cup.
