Toyota Gazoo Racing have confirmed two World Racing Car entries in WRC events for 26 year old trainee driver Takamoto Katsuta.
These will be in Rallye Deutschland and Catalunya Rally this year.
This announcement is a fulfilment of TGR’s pledge to develop a new Japanese WRC driver, a project which began during 2015.
So far Katsuta has rallied a World Rally Car twice in Finnish national events, winning outright on both occasions.
This year he has also been contesting the WRC2 category in which after four rounds he is lying fourth in the Amateur category.
His father is a former Japanese national rally champion.
