Simon Evans says his drive of Les Walkden's Subaru WRX STI at this weekend's Rally Tasmania isn't likely to be a one off.
Speaking to RallySport Magazine on his birthday, Evans said the drive came about after a phone call from Walkden, and that he was really looking forward to getting back into a rally car.
The four-time Australian Rally Champion has spent the past two seasons driving for Polaris in the Side-By-Side championship, which he currently leads.
"Les called and asked if I wanted to drive the car, and of course I said yes," Evans said.
"I didn't think I'd be back in the ARC again, but it's a great opportunity."
The car is the ex-Molly Taylor WRX that was crashed heavily at Rally Australia last year. It has since been fully rebuilt and will run to the latest PRC specification.

Evans will test the car in Tasmania tomorrow afternoon, before the rally gets underway in Launceston on Friday night.
Following the Tasmanian event, the plan is for Evans and co-driver, Bernie Webb, to drive the car at Victoria's Eureka Rally in August, with other events a possibility.
"I've been told I can't put a scratch on it this weekend," Evans laughed.
"Other events are certainly on the cards, starting with Eureka, although we'll have to overcome a unique date clash that weekend."
Ironically, there's a round of the Side-By-Side championship on in Ballarat on the same weekend, however, that event only takes place on Saturday.
With the Eureka Rally not starting until Saturday night with a super special stage, and the rally stages on Sunday, all the planets seem to have aligned for Evans.
"It's quite funny how it's worked out, but we've chatted to the ARC about doing both events on that weekend, and it should all be possible," he added.
The appearance of Simon Evans in the Australian Rally Championship will be a real boost for the series, which is already undergoing a resurgence due to an influx of new cars.
Along with the Toyota Yaris AP4s, Rally Tasmania will also see the debut of two new R5 cars - Luke Anear's Ford Fiesta, and Marcus Walkem's Hyundai i20.
