Brothers Daniel and Tim Callinan have led home their parents, Keith and Mary-Anne, to win the inaugural Mt Stuart Sprint Tarmac Rally in Far North Queensland.
Driving a Holden Commodore, the brothers beat their parents on all five runs up the challenging Mt Stuart access road, winning by 32 seconds.
Mum and Dad, driving their awesome black De Tomaso Pantera, finished a similar margin ahead of the Datsun 1200 Coupe of Ian Ogilvie and Tony Blackshaw, with four-wheel drive turbo cars filling the next two places.
Adam Carmichael and Greg Fitzgerald were fourth in a Subaru, ahead of the Celica GT4 of Neil Jaunzems and Kristy Yelaska.
Sixteen cars started the inaugural event, which organisers, the Twin Cities Autosports Club, have hailed as a great success. They are already planning next year’s event.
