The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) has produced a useful document which is intended as a general guideline for all participants in motorsport during ‘extreme heat’ conditions.
The six-page paper covers a range of relevant topics at this time of year, including:
•   What is heat illness? •   Hydration & Diet •   Expert information •   Environmental factors •   Duration & intensity of an event •   Specific information for officials
The well researched document gives information on what to eat and drink in the lead up to an event, food and drinks to be avoided, and lists many of the signs of heat exhaustion, such as light headedness, nausea and confusion.
It will prove to be a useful tool for competitors, officials and clubs alike.
