September 30 sees classic rallying move to the northern NSW town of Wauchope when the Hastings Sporting Car Club hosts the BAGO 100 Rally.

This year the event will have the Australian Classic Rally Association (ACRA) cars running at the front of field as a precursor to the main rally. It is expected that 10 of the classics will attend.

One of the starters, Matt Ruggles, will be running his BRM/Silverstone Triumph TR7 V8, and is expected to be a real crowd pleaser. But Matt will be interested in protecting his points lead in the ACRA Classic Challenge, as he goes into the event with a healthy lead of Shawn Urquhart, meaning that Shawn will be trying his hardest to score big in the forests around Wauchope.

To that end, he will be again using the services of Fred Gocentas, possibly the most experienced co-driver in Australia still competing.

Another competitor to watch will be Troy O'doherty, who will be debuting his new Triumph TR7 V8, with wife Penny sitting alongside.

There will be a large variation of cars on display before the start of the event, opposite the Bago Tavern, with the rally due to start at 2.30pm. Spectators are more than welcome to come and look at the vehicles.

Expect to see the Triumphs, Ford Escort RS’, Datsun Stanzas, Fiat 131 Abarths and many more. For some people, this will be the only time they can get to see such cars.

The rally is also a round of the NSW Novice and Northern Rally series, as well as HVSCC Ladies Cup, and HVSCC Classic Challenge.

The event will receive support from the Bago Winery and the Wauchope RSL Club.
