The country’s leading window and door brand, Vantage Aluminium Joinery ups their commitment to New Zealand’s rallying elite. Having supported many campaigns in the past, General Manager, Craig Vincent, says the opportunity to put the business name to the rally series came at an opportune time.
"We see this sponsorship as the obvious next step up from our previous sponsorship involvement with Possum Bourne and our current support of rally driver Emma Gilmour. We have a heritage going back many years in New Zealand rallying,” Vincent said.
“The NZ Rally Championship is now a major brand on the motorsport circuit and we felt it fitted in well with our Vantage brand of aluminium windows and doors, which is the leading joinery brand in the country. We are proud to be the naming sponsor."
Contested over six rounds covering the length of the country, the Vantage Aluminium Joinery New Zealand Rally Championship also includes the Asia Pacific Rally Championship round and Rally New Zealand.
Starting in Otago in mid-April, the championship crown will be awarded at the season finale in Nelson in September. With four categories to the championship, the Group-N two-wheel drive class has been created to include the Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy cars.
Competitors to the series have already started to enter the opening round in Otago and include a number of new drivers – including high-profile international interest.
Promoter for this season’s championship is The Motorsport Company – who run the highly successful summer series of circuit racing.
