Two Skoda WRC2 competitors turned up at Wales Rally GB with special Flag of Convenience registration numbers.
Both the Fabia R5s of David Bogie and Nicolas Fuchs carried Hungarian plates. Bogie’s new car is run by the British company CA1, having first appeared recently on the Isle of Man Rally. Fuchs’ is run by the Dutch Wevers Sport company, and previously had Austrian registration earlier in the season.
Fuchs’ car was also used by Julien Maurin in Corsica and by Albert von Thurn und Taxis in San Marino on the CIR event.
The change has been brought about by clarification in the restrictions under Czech registration rules concerning exported cars.
Skoda has now produced over 100 Fabia R5s, a large majority run abroad.
