Tragedy has struck at the Donnelly Rally in Western Australia today with a child believed to have died after a competing vehicle collided with spectators.Â
According to a report on the Busselton Mail website:
"Police have confirmed emergency services are in attendance at a rally car crash in the state's South West.
Approximately 4.30pm on Saturday, a vehicle participating in a rally event at Donnelly River, between Manjimup and Nannup, left the road and collided with spectators.
It is understood one child has died and at least two other people are seriously injured. Â
St John WA said the children involved are believed to be aged six, eight and 10.
The injured children are being stabilised at Bridgetown Regional Hospital and will be flown to Perth by the RAC Rescue Helicopter. Â
Donnelly is currently hosting the 2015 Trade Hire Donnelly Rally on Saturday with WA Rally Championship competitors racing 150 kilometres on fast, narrow roads around Bridgetown's historic Donnelly Mill.
The rally follows on from the Quit Forest Rally.
More to come."
